NEWS

April 2019

Well it has been a while!

Last year, we had a bit of a break after playing at the Launch of the Centre for Postdigital Studies at Coventry University.

 (see https://www.coventry.ac.uk/research/areas-of-research/postdigital-cultures/)

This year we were invited to play at an amazing event at a currently empty manor house in Llangoed on Anglesey.  "Sui Generis - The Possibilities of a House" is a project of Julie Upmeyer who brought 62 projects from 64 creatives together to fill the house with painting, installation, sound, music, photography, collage, performance....I could go on!  (see https://www.plasbodfa.com/sui-generis)

It was an amazing space to play in (and it really felt like play - in a room of fellow artists and makers!) and we were also able to install 'Sound Books' by Sterly and Snell as well.  See plasbodfa Facebook and Instagram pages for pictures.  All the best to Julia, who wants to eventually create artist residencies and more exhibitions at the house in the future.

Here's to new projects!

November 2017

We had a great time in Cardiff at the Printhaus - a great venue with some pretty great people keeping it all going!   There were some fantastic artists' book stalls and performers all day.  AND it will all happen again next year, so keep your ears peeled for the date.  We will be there!

From that gig, we made a new contact from the Letterpress Collective  in Bristol, and we will now be playing at their end of year WAYZGOOSE (look it up!)  on the 9th of Dec.  Hooray!

June 2017

We have added 2 more exciting performances to this years' gig line-up.  The first on the 6th of July to launch the 'Telling in Full' exhibition for the Lancaster Words Festival at Lancaster University.  And with PJ Harvey and Paul Muldoon performing afterwards, it should be a great event!

And later in the year on the 9th of September at the Printhaus in Cardiff which will feature artists' books stalls and spoken word events.

Thanks especially to the Printhaus for printing our tote bags, which will be available at the gigs!

April 2017:

We have a new video on YouTube that has been posted from Sonic Arts of us performing at the festival in Waterford last year.  You can see the creative spirit flowing with help from the great lighting effects provided by the venue!

January 2017:

Happy New Year to all Sound Book fans!  We had such a busy year last year, ending with a fantastic gig in Waterford, Ireland at the Sonic Dreams Festival!  An amazing group of artists and performers came together to make a magic weekend!

We have one last gig in at Oriel Davies in Newtown - my local patch - before we have a break to write some new stuff and pursue some separate projects.  4th of February!  See you there!

September 2016:

We have a twitter account (finally!)  - the link is on the bar at the bottom of the page....get tweeting!

Sound Book Project has been invited to perform at the Sonic Dreams Festival in Ireland!  A very exciting festival to take part in and we are all looking forward to it!  We will be playing on Saturday the 24th of September.  It will be the final performance of this year after traveling around the UK at some amazing festivals and venues.

In other news, Ant Dickinson has moved to sunnier climates down to the south of Spain, so will not be performing with us for the next few gigs.  Hopefully he will be in the UK some time next year and will be involved in Sound Book Project again, whether playing or developing a new digital sound book!

August 2016:

MOST EXCITING NEWS - airplay on BBC 6 Music on Tom Robinson's Mixtape Show!  A great privilege!  And it was in a mix of some really interesting music.  Thanks Tom!

We had a great time in London performing at the Colour House Theatre at Merton Abbey Mills, hosted by Object Book and Chloe Spicer, who is an amazing book artist herself!  We also did a 'Sound Book' workshop which was well attended and created some new book music!

We have released a limited edition EP and sound book!  A book that makes it's own sounds, and creates it own poems!  It includes a CD with four tracks by Sound Book Project.  You can play along with the 'Rubberband Piece'!  An edition of 30 and available on our Facebook page for £10.
